JOURNAL OF EUROPEAN CERAMIC SOCIETY TRUST (JECS TRUST)
We are pleased to announce the second Student Pitch Contest, proudly sponsored by the Journal of European Ceramic Society Trust (JECS Trust), which will take place during the 70th Brazilian Ceramic Congress (CBC). This contest is designed to promote scientific communication in English and foster international collaboration. The Student Pitch Contest will be one of the highlights of the Young Ceramists Evening, culminating in a happy hour after the presentations.
Prize
- JECS Trust Best Pitch Award: €1,200 (to cover transportation, accommodation, and registration for an event of the European Ceramic Society).
Eligibility
- Open to students (undergraduate, master’s, or PhD) or recent graduates (degree completed after June 7, 2024).
- Only participants with accepted oral or poster submissions at the 70th CBC may apply.
- The presenter must be the first author of the work submitted to the CBC.
Submission requirements
Submit by May 16, 2026, to:

Your submission must include the following:
- Title of the work and reference
- Full list of authors and affiliations (clearly indicate the presenter/first author)
- Abstract (must be identical to the one submitted to the 70th CBC or translated into English in case the original one was submitted in Portuguese)
- Graphical abstract: image in TIFF, PNG, or JPEG (300 dpi, 2:5 ratio – e.g., 531 × 1328 px or 9.366 × 23.424 cm)
- Proof of studentship: valid enrollment certificate or diploma issued after June 7, 2024
Presentation guidelines
- Each pitch must be in English and last a maximum of 3 minutes.
- Time overrun will result in point deductions.
- Use of slides is optional (maximum of six if used).
- The pitch must address the purpose, main results, and key conclusions of the study.
Selection process
- 12 to 16 candidates will be pre-selected based on the abstract and graphical abstract.
- Preference will be given to ABCeram members and candidates at advanced academic levels (PhD > Master's > Undergraduate).
- Selected candidates will be notified by May 29, 2026.
Preliminar schedule
- Presentation: during the Young Ceramists Evening, Tuesday night, June 09, 2026
- Award ceremony: at the closing session, Wednesday, June 10, 2026
